The rapid growth of IoT (“Internet of things”) has resulted in new communication techniques, specifically developed to meet the growing demand of high energy-efficiency and long range. LoRaWAN is one such technique. CMi4111 is mounted inside a L+G T230/330 to deliver meter data to a receiving server via a LoRaWAN network. The product has 11 years of battery life, is energy-efficient and has a long communication range. CMi4111 is easily configured through Elvaco OTC mobile app (via NFC). With CMi4111, Elvaco offers a meter communication module designed for customers that require a user-friendly and cost-effective solution.

The configuration of the CMi4111 using NFC proves to be particularly simple. After the meter module has been activated with the Elvaco OTC mobile app, the data rate of the device is calibrated for the first time. The subsequent device configuration is carried out via NFC and the Elvaco OTC app. To simplify the process, the meter module can also activate itself when a first consumption in the meter is detected by means of water flow.

The CMi4111 supports nine different message formats such as JSON plain text as well as various M-Bus telegrams. In addition, any sending interval between 15 minutes and 1440 minutes (24 hours) can be defined to specify the frequency of communication between the meter module and the server. To ensure a maximum battery life of at least eleven years, the CMi4111 has an EcoMode. This regulates the transmission interval below a specified limit to enable energy-efficient operation of the CMi4111.
